Following the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28), the Malaysian Youth Delegation (MYD)’s Post-COP28 Forum aimed to bridge the gap between international climate agreements and actionable strategies in Malaysia.
The forum was hosted by MYD, in partnership with Sunway Centre for Planetary Health and the Youth Environment Living Labs (a joint programme of UNDP Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei Darussalam and UNICEF Malaysia, co-funded by Amanah Lestari Alam and the European Union).
The forum which was held on 3rd February 2024 presented an opportunity for a wide range of key stakeholders in Malaysia to come together to chart the path forward for climate action in Malaysia in the wake of COP28’s key outcomes.
Participants were invited to engage in comprehensive discussions across four thematic areas: Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE), Carbon Markets, Global Stocktake (GST), and Just Transition, during focused breakout sessions.
These sessions, led by experts including Mr. Nithi Nesadurai of Climate Action Network Southeast Asia (CANSEA) for Just Transition, Encik Ridzwan Ali of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) for GST, Ms. Hilary Kung of Third World Network (TWN) for Carbon Markets, and Revan Lim Tai-Jie of Sunway Centre for Planetary Health (SCPH) for ACE, provided a platform for in-depth analysis.
